Teenagers & Money

Picture 3Many families have been blessed by the common sense, biblical approach to money management taught by Dave Ramsey. Financial Peace University is bringing hope to those drowning in financial debt and providing a way forward toward a debt-free lifestyle and wise stewardship of our money.

But what if we could help young people avoid the devastation and ruin so many of their parents have faced?  What if we could teach teenagers how to avoid debt in the first place and foster spending and saving habits to help them live happily and content lives within their means?

I’m thrilled to be leading our high school students through Dave Ramsey’s youth curriculum called “Generation Change” this January. What is Generation Change?  Here’s how they describe it:

So, why did we create Dave Ramsey’s Generation ChangeWell, every day our youth are bombarded with a million different voices—everything from billboards to internet ads—telling them who they are and measuring their worth by what they have. The pressure to be accepted in today’s stuff-centered world drives them, and perhaps even their parents, to throw money away on things that don’t matter—all in an attempt to “be somebody.” The result? We’re raising a generation that spends money they don’t have to buy things they don’t need to impress people they don’t even like! It’s time for a change!

I’m grateful for DeeAnn and Brian for encouraging us to bring this life-impacting topic to our high school students.  Check out this trailer!

Has Dave Ramsey’s ministry been a help to you?  Does your youth ministry address financial responsibility and biblical stewardship?

  1. Great post. I hope Dave is able to use his corporation to bring more Christians back to the ideas expressed in the Bible such as living humbly, staying away from debt, and giving generously.
