We’ve been walking by faith and not by sight for months toward the launch of MainStreet Community in Mound. We’ve been clinging to a vision and painting pictures with words at our Launch Team gatherings.
Yet, a picture is worth a thousand words, as they say. So, I’m giddy with excitement to reveal 3 pieces of art created for us by a local Christian artist friend, Nick Reitenour, that will decorate the MWHS Little Theater stage this Sunday night at our Worship Rally.
I asked Nick to create 3 pieces centered around the 3 words that make up our name: MAINSTREET COVENANT COMMUNITY. Nick dropped the finished paintings off last night and did he ever deliver! I love artists. I love creative gifts used in service of the Kingdom of God and for the glory of God. I believe visual artists are under appreciated in the church, rarely valued as much as other artists involved in leading congregations in worship (i.e., musicians).
Yet, I am so excited to be looking at, touching with my hands, displaying for our team to see, these pictures that help bring the vision of MainStreet more to life than words can often do. These poor quality photos don’t do justice to the bright colors and texture of these large wooden 4 foot wide paintings. You’ll have to come out this Sunday night to see them properly displayed on stage at the MainStreet Worship Rally.
Thanks, Nick, for sharing your gift with us. I will treasure these paintings forever.
