The price was right in Mound as MainStreet Covenant Church held it’s second annual Free Garage Sale at Stonegate Plaza on August 27. Donated goods were collected all week from friends in the community and given away on Saturday — everything free.
Hundreds of shoppers turned out and went home with smiles on their faces and new treasures in their bags. When asked why everything was free, MainStreet volunteers shared the Scripture that says Christians are called to “share with those who are in need” (Romans 12:13).
Leah Weycker, Executive Director of WeCAN, a local social services organization in Mound where the sale was held had this to say following the event: “From what I see, your church is well on its way to being great! This is the MOST community involved faith group that I have worked with.”
A special thanks to all who donated stuff to give away, to all volunteers, our friends at WeCAN, Bethel Methodist Church for the use of their clothes racks and Mound Free Church for the use of their tables.
May we continue to live into our vision to impact the community in the name of Jesus.
