I am just going to say it. I’m going on record. Even though I may need to cash in some “man chips” in doing so, Elton John’s “Your Song” as one of my all-time favorites. Not just Top 10. Probably Top 5. I’m gonna even risk losing friends and the respect of my musical comrades confessing it might even make my Top 3 favorites of all time.

I quite simply cannot listen to it without getting emotional, usually shedding a tear. I snuck away to see the Rocketman movie last week on my own. I shed many tears over those 2 hours. So, here’s a toast to what is probably my all-time number 1 love song. I’m not a big Elton John fan at all…but this one just undoes me every time.

Hmmm…I wonder if I can pull that one off on the guitar? I’m gonna go try. While I do that, why don’t you have a listen. I like how the drums and bass don’t fully come in until nearly the end. I prefer this original studio version with strings, guitar and drums accompanying than the solo piano version he does live. Enjoy!
