“Get away with me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace.” -JESUS
Imagine the phone rings and it’s Jesus on the other end. He invites you to his Father’s Cabin for a weekend together. He tells you he’s picking you up at sunrise and to pack nothing. Then he hangs up the phone.
The Father’s Cabin is an account of Jeremy’s imaginative and prayer-generated journey to a quiet, northern lakefront cabin where the Son of God himself is our host and guide. What will we talk about on the drive up? How would the architect of the universe design his cabin? Who might our fellow cabin guests be? What outdoor adventures will we experience? What conversations will we have and what kingdom lessons will we learn?
The Father’s Cabin illuminates scripture and kingdom truths in a creative narrative style that is full of both witty humor and profound insights. This is a trip you’ll never forget!
*As difficult as it is to believe, I forgot all about the popular book and film The Shack by William Paul Young based on this same idea until after I had already written these. How crazy! I realize this may look like a cheap rip-off of his book, but the truth is this was so much not a creative writing project I undertook, but a real spiritual journey Jesus took me on in my imagination. I was brought to the Father’s Cabin NOT by reading The Shack, but through prayer during a couple very dry seasons of faith. I am now praying for the time and inspiration to get back there and finish this story.
