This oft quoted scripture is a classic “if/then” conditional promise from God. IF we want God to HEAR our prayers, FORGIVE our political sins, and HEAL the deep divisions of our land,

THEN we must first

HUMBLE our public discourse, PRAY and seek Christ’s gaze more than political triumph, and, most difficult of all, REPENT of our wicked ways.

We have no reason to expect God to do the former until we have begun to do the latter. Let it begin with US today.

Lord, have mercy.
