Someone may be thinking, “Why go to church to watch (with a mask) when I can watch in my grubbies on my own in the comfort of my home on my own schedule?” I’ll just say that there’s something special — even “sacramental” — about encountering these stories in community and participating afterwards in some discussion and sharing in the sacrament of holy communion together. (Not to mention for 2,000 years, until our day characterized by rugged American individualism, the people of God have understood the importance of gathering together for worship, fellowship, and the Eucharist.)
