My Anchor Podcast is Back!

Greetings! I wanted to alert all my readers/subscribers that I have rebooted my Anchor Podcast where I offer short, on-the-go Biblical reflections 2 or 3 times a week in audio format. If you’re like me, you find yourself listening to podcasts or books more than reading articles in your crammed inbox. These episodes typically run about 8-12 minutes and might fit perfectly into your morning routine.

For those who enjoy my writings and perspectives, many of these are simply audio versions of my written pieces you never get around to reading. One episode each week will be a reflection on that week’s reading from the Common Lectionary. Below is a snapshot of recent episodes this past week.

Would you do me the favor of subscribing via your preferred podcast platform (Spotify, iHeart Radio, Apple, etc.) and then sharing it on your social media feed to let others know about it? Also, let me know if you’re listening out there!

May these short reflections help keep you anchored in Christ this New Year!

214. One Body, Many Ethnic Parts The Anchor Podcast

In this "Deep Dive" episode, Sarah and Doug discuss a theological essay I published in 2020 where I explore how the biblical metaphors of Pentecost and the "One Body" from 1 Corinthians 12 provide a framework for racial and ethnic reconciliation within the modern church. I argue that while secular concepts like the "melting pot" often fail, the Gospel offers a "cauldron of grace" that preserves cultural distinctiveness while dismantling prejudicial barriers. This is a timely conversation as Christians and church leaders try to respond faithfully to the anti-immigration climate in our country, and in particular what's happening in the streets of my city and our neighborhoods in Minnesota.
