Hey all! It’s been a while! I have a special invitation for you today.
As we kick off the fall together at MainStreet Covenant Church, we’re all aware that the upcoming election is looming on the horizon. Politics seem to dominate the airwaves and headlines, not to mention our social media feeds. The mention of politics probably just triggered an emotion in you: Exhaustion? Anger? Fear? Cynicism?
While it’s tempting to just avoid the topic, we are a church that tries to face uncomfortable feelings and topics with grace and truth rooted in the teachings of Jesus and the Scriptures. Toward this end, we are excited to invite you to join us for a six-week series kicking off this Sunday, September 8 at 5:00-6:30 pm at St. Martin’s By the Lake.

The After Party 6-Week Course
The After Party is a free six-part video course designed to provide churches, small groups, and individuals with an on-the-ground, biblically based approach to navigating today’s challenging political environment.
It’s no secret that the church has been challenged by extreme polarization, entrenched tribal affiliations, and the broken relationships that often result. Our course, born of a deep friendship among Russell Moore, David French, and Covenant pastor Curtis Chang, is both inspiring and practical and will help you reorient your heart and mind towards a Christ-centered political identity for 2024 and beyond.
Have you ever wondered how you can engage in politics in a way that reflects Jesus?
Through interactive videos that encourage participants to inventory their own political identities, this course will guide you through six videos, interactive sessions, and reflections questions to help you focus less on the “what” of politics — “What policy, party, or candidate is most Christian?” — and more on the “how” of politics so we can ask “How do I relate to others — including those I might disagree with — so that I better reflect Jesus?”
What to expect?
- We’ll gather in table groups, watch short videos, and self-examine and discuss together.
- For the sake of our kids ministry leaders, we will begin promptly at 5pm and wrap up by 6:30pm. This doesn’t leave much time, so do your best to be on-time.
- Discussions will be non-partisan and focused on the “how” of politics, not the “what” of policies and candidates.
- We will end each night at the Lord’s Table and pray for our country and government leaders and candidates.
- Come with a posture of humility and a desire to cultivate an attitude of hope in these fraught times.
- Consider inviting a friend or neighbor to this 6-week course.
We need to radically recenter on Jesus.
Christians have lost their way when it comes to the intersection of faith & politics. It’s time to reframe our political identity as we take the lead in healing what’s broken. Jesus’ call is clear: We are to be salt and light in this world. Come be equipped and encouraged as we prepare for the true party to come. We’ve saved a seat for you!
