I wrote a piece on my 40-year friendship with local legend and restaurant owner, Scott Bjorlin yesterday. We are teaming up for a fundraiser later this month so he’s been on my mind. Songwriter Kris Krostofferson has been on my mind as well since his passing, so I riffed off his famous song, “Me and Bobby McGee.”
I pushed “publish” and then drove to Jordan to watch my son, Peter’s cross country race. On my way home, I stopped to buy milk at the grocery store, and who did I just happen to bump into? Scotty B himself. What are the chances?
My eyes brightened as I got to tell him I just finished writing a piece about him. Moreover, I told him that a special podcast episode devoted to his local impact would be coming out the following day.
Deep Dives with Sarah and Doug is a new production of Kingdom Harbor and The Anchor Podcast, and this latest episode unpacks my piece and explores the power of putting down roots in one’s community and giving back out of the riches you’ve received.
Enjoy episode #174 and please share it on social media if you liked it!
