It’s the anniversary we never wanted, nor will ever forget. Exactly one year ago we rushed Isaak (11) to the ER with abdominal pain, and ended up in the ICU at Children’s for 31 agonizing, faith-stretching days. After a harrowing journey including three life-saving surgeries, Isaak came home alive and thankfully without a colostomy bag.

I will resist posting photos from that journey because I don’t want to go back there emotionally. We are still coping with the collective and personal trauma. But we are grateful…oh so grateful to be where we are. Isaak has some challenges, but thankfully not in his guts. Okay, one photo.
Instead, to mark the anniversary, I’m sharing a podcast episode celebrating his baptism from this August and the sermon I gave on that special occasion. My theme was “wrestling” and flows out of that difficult experience. Listen to this short episode where our AI friends, Sarah and Doug, do a Deep Dive into the heart of my sermon entitled, “Let’s Get Ready to Rumble.”

Now here’s a photo of Isaak on a happier occasion!
