Perfect timing! As we bring our Life of David series to a close in a couple weeks, a brand new highly praised TV series debuts on Amazon Prime. We may watch the pilot episode (or more) together on March 2 as the conclusion of our David series. Here’s the summary and trailer.

HOUSE OF DAVID tells the story of the ascent of the biblical figure, David, who becomes the most celebrated king of Israel. The series follows the once-mighty King Saul as he falls victim to his own pride. At the direction of God, the prophet Samuel anoints an unlikely, outcast teenager as the new king. As one leader falls, another must rise.

Dallas Jenkins, creator of The Chosen, says this of the series:

This isn’t a Chosen project, but it’s the closest thing you can come to one.  House of David was created by Jon Erwin and Jon Gunn, who have directed such movies as I Can Only Imagine, Jesus Revolution, and Case for Christ.

I know your immediate questions are, “Is this going to be any good?” and “Can we trust it’s going to be faithful to the Bible?” Now while I can’t know for sure what you are going to like, I can assure you it is going to be good, and that it’s going to honor the Bible. The company behind it is the Wonder Project, which I am a part of, and they consulted with the same biblical expert (Dr. Jesse Stone) for this project as Come and See (our non-profit partners) uses for The Chosen. 

This is big. Prime has really gotten behind this big time, so be sure to check it out.
