Join us Sunday nights for a fascinating course!

For twenty years now I have been trying to preach and teach the upside-down, cross-shaped Kingdom of Jesus, contrasting it with the power-over, coercive nature of worldly kingdoms and nations. I have tried for years to lead people into rethinking life and politics in light of the radical and counter-intuitive Way of non-violence and enemy-love Jesus taught and embodied on the cross.

The rise of the MAGA movement and its takeover of the minds of millions of Evangelicals while espousing a vision of power and a culture war mentality completely at odds with the Way of Jesus, has left many pastors like me deeply discouraged. Jesus once asked, “Why do you call me Lord, Lord, and yet do not obey my teachings?” Perhaps people desire to obey, but they still haven’t wrapped their minds around the shocking nature of his Kingdom.

Paul warned the Corinthian believers that the cross-shaped wisdom and power of Jesus Kingdom seems foolish and weak to the worldly mind. And so we may need to let Jesus rewire our minds, change our way of thinking (repent in Greek literally means ‘change your mind’) and slowly cultivate “the mind of Christ” (1 Cor. 2:16).
