I shared a sermon at Kevin Krotzer’s funeral on Saturday, June 24, 2023, at St. Martin’s by the Lake. It’s a message I think others need to hear. I know some friends and family were unable to attend, and so I decided to record a version of it to share here.
One fun additional note: A strong gust of wind brought a giant old oak tree crashing down outside the chapel at the end of Kevin’s funeral. While I would like to think it was the power of my sermon that brought it down, perhaps it was a reminder that humble, gentle souls like Kevin who often pass quietly through this life are given a big and loud welcome into God’s presence.
Let it also remind us of the need to put down deep spiritual roots so we can withstand the winds of adversity that will blow against us all. Enjoy this short sermon and pass along to others.
