My Presentation on E.A. Skogsbergh

On July 12,  I had the opportunity to share my research and book on the life and legacy of Erik August Skogsbergh, a pivotal Swedish-American preacher, at  Fairview Covenant Church in Mound, MN. Established in 1901 out of Skogsbergh’s gatherings on the Lake at the turn of the century, Fairview is celebrating its 125th anniversary this summer.

Known as the “Swedish Moody,”Skogsbergh’s 19th-century ministry was defined by an energetic commitment to evangelism, leading him to build massive tabernacles and establish a spiritual retreat on Lake Minnetonka. I explain how Skogsbergh’s tireless efforts inspired my own journey to plant MainStreet Covenant Church, drawing a parallel between our current day church plant and Skogsbergh’s historical impact.

By reflecting on family origins, communal history, and personal testimonies, I emphasize the importance of maintaining a vibrant faith across generations. Ultimately, I invite my own church and the church at Fairview to continue being a “lighthouse” for the community, just as Skogsbergh was over a century ago.
